I always come to this place to spill my thoughts. No one may read it but it feels good to get it off my chest.

I find myself in the most incredible place in my life while equally being in one of the most difficult mentally. Not that it’s unmanageable nor is there a cloud hanging over my head. Nothing like that. It is that place in my life where I choose to create my own untraveled path to create my happy existence on this planet. Sometimes taking the road less traveled ends up with a staggering feeling similar to loneliness, only, I am not lonely. My heart is full of love and support of those people whom I hold dear, which there are very few, as my full heart is guarded more and more these days. Choosing this lifestyle of creating something that is mine, something that can continue to flourish for years to come and create stability for myself and the hypothetical family I may have one day. Not only does it come from my desire to be financially stable, it burns from my desire to experience the world as fully as I possibly can. I come from a family where traveling and vacations were not a thing. We did not have those kind of memories. I yearn for that. I crave a life where I can explore the world as God created it in all of its majesty. I want to be submersed with new culture and adventures, constantly. I want the book I’m writing to have depth behind it.. not just coming from someone who has experienced more heartbreak than one should by 28 years old.

Oh heartbreak.. why must you be so cruel and ever lingering? I could write and write and write about this subject.. but why give it continuous life? All I will say is, I am careful when choosing my relationships and if something does not work out after giving it a chance, I decide for myself to let something go that is not right for me… & by let something go I mean indulge in a weekend of Sex and the City marathons, eat Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream and pizza in bed while crying at nodding in agreement with everything Carrie Bradshaw is saying about men and their ways. But not this one… it’s been 9 years since we met and I’m still as crazy about him as I was the moment we met. Timing has never been in our favor, but as the years go on, neither of us has fully moved on and conversations have taken place between us as recent as today… but now, geography isn’t in our favor and I am terrified that time is going to continue to get away from us if something drastic doesn’t happen.. but what? This is not some fucking romance novel where he’s going to magically appear at my door stop with flowers in his hand in the rain while I dramatically fling the door open and jump into his arms & we live happily ever after. WRONG. It is real life and I ca not imagine feeling so intensely for someone for 9 years to only have it constantly be on my mind and nothing ever coming of it. I can not imagine that he not my guy.. I can just feel it in my bones. I do not want to fall in love with the wrong person and end up like my parents. That hurts too much. Despite the fact that I have not a single functioning relationship model in my family, I still believe in that all consuming love that two people can have for one another. I still believe that two people can fall in love, build a life founded on the word of God, have a family, create happy memories together, support each other, lift each other up, respect one another, remain faithful to one another and spend forever in love. That is what I want. So what if it’s him? What if it’s not? Craving something so delightfully magnificent, wanting to experience that kind of unconditional love so bad that it shatters my soul a bit every time I think of it. It is a beautiful heartbreak… you know?

So I refer back to my original thought of creating my own path. They say it is lonely when you are at the top and while I am not at the top, I surely am in a different bracket than the rest of them. I stand tall and proud in every decision that I have made to get me here. While I am remaining slightly vague with all of the aforementioned, just remember this; While I have been busy working in diligent silence, something beautifully me has been created. No public announcements need to be made, just know you will be seeing be soon. You meaning all of you who chose to leave me and not love & support me unconditionally. All of you who I supported and was there for and the second you had a chance to tear me down, give your two cents, and passive aggressively insult me. You did not break me then and you will not break me now. While some of the wounds are still wide open, the pain only fuels my fire so thank you all for being part of come up.

Your fuel has been greatly appreciated.

Love hard. Be kind. Chase your dreams relentlessly. Make shit happen. Be true to you.

Why is it that the words just flow so freely when you’re upset?

Okay, I’m not upset… I am just 25 years old and enduring much change. Change, meaning life is progressing, chapters are changing and many lessons are being learned. But I guess that’s just called life, huh?

Lessons Learned Recently by Twenty-Something Me

1. You can’t make people see or feel the world the way you do. Period.

2. You should never waste your time or breath trying to justify your decisions, actions or opinions to anyone. Just surround yourself with like-minded people and you’ll never have to do any of the aforementioned. Simple as that.

3. Sometimes the people closest to you will bring out the worst parts of you. Why? Because they love you of course, and they know exactly how to push your hardest buttons. Is it right? Absolutely not, but we’re all guilty of it. Actively work on LOVING & SUPPORTING those people closest to you instead of doing the exact opposite.

5. When people are ready to change, they will. You can’t force someone to be someone they’re not. Change either comes willingly or not at all.

6.You are not destined to be an unhappy, jealous, angry, lazy, overweight, outcast, with no money, no life, no friends, no support system, lonely waste of human being. THERE IS HOPE FOR ANYONE. I watch miracles happen every day. GET YOUR ASS UP, STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

7. Here’s the age old question, “OMG, you’re single? Why?” Well here is why; I have learned in my past relationships what I want and what I don’t want. A certain Georgia boy from my past reminded me that gentlemen still do exist. They’re rare, but they are there. I will not ever ask a guy out or make the first move, I like when he takes control. A guy who knows what he wants out of life and actually possesses the motivation go for it is quite attractive. But more than any of those things, a guy with a unique mind is what attracts me. [See: Brandon Boyd… HA! …but seriously.] When I do find someone interesting & tall enough ,  9 times out of 10 they lack that certain conversation skill and excel in video game skill. Boom. #2013problems

8. Work on yourself first. Physically, spiritually, mentally. Any emotion you are feeling inside will pour out of your face, thing thoughts lingering in your mind will inevitably prosper, and what you consume will reflect upon your body. Love yourself, respect everyone around you, give more, expect less, stop gossiping about irrelevant life facts, thank God every day for being given another day to live and you’ll live a life you are truly proud of, not one you just have to fake your way through.

That was definitely long, but there is something rather therapeutic about feeling the keys clicking underneath my fingertips and at last clicking the Publish Post button.

Thank you for listening to my rant, cyber lovelies.

 Until next time..

rants from a twenty-something ep.10

Hello there, cyber world.

Oh, how I have missed you.

My days seem to be consumed with more fresh air & human interaction, rather than sitting in a stifling, non-ventilated office space staring at a computer screen. I like it better this way. I feel like me.

The past 6 months have been entirely consumed with detoxing my entire life as I knew it. My lifestyle, my friends, ex-boyfriends, my wardrobe, my refrigerator…you name it, I detoxed it. You go through changes in life where you flip the page, and you enter the next chapter of life, but this wasn’t one of those changes. It was more of a burn-that-book-write-a-new-one-and-never-look-back-ever-ever-again kind of change. You think you have life all figured out and it finds a clever, sneaky little way of knocking you on your ass and reminding you of how you never had a clue to begin with. But, what does one do when real life perplexities hit?

Keep breathing and keep on going.

So in the reconstruction of my new life I realized a few things.

Who I am is not defined by the material things in my life. Life lessons and experience make me who I am. You follow the signs, the word and the path that God creates for you and this beautiful life unravels before your eyes. I am a person with a healthy body in which all of the components work in perfect synchronization to allow me to breathe, think, and exist every day. For that reason, I wake up every morning full of gratitude, thankful for every tiny blessing. Never let those tiny blessings go unnoticed, for those are the ones that really make you life rich.

The strength we possess as human beings is absolutely, incredibly mind blowing. There is considerable strength in our words, minds and bodies, which is the greater part of our being. Those, also, are things that make me who I am. Strength in those components can change the world. How am I going to change my world? By only speaking positive declarations, finding the good in every life occurrence and  by living as selflessly as possible every single day. Why? Because why would I want to live any other way?

I’m spiritually, mentally and physically rid of my old life and I for the first time and exactly who I want to be with no regards to anyone, but me. I am free.

I challenge you all to reevaluate your life, get rid of the excess and free yourself, because you are free the exact moment that you wish to be.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will.”
breathe in..exhale…

Have a beautiful weekend & until next time y’all,

rants from a twenty-something ep. 9

It’s been quite a while since I have written a substantial entry. To my faithful ones, I’m sorry for that. Transition periods seem to visit rather frequently these days & I have no idea where I am going to be from one day to the next. It’s rather exhausting, while it also exhilarates me to the bone. A lot of my journal writing has been in my personal, handwritten journals here at home as I have been traveling on a path of full self discovery. I feel as if I constantly write about change that I am under, however, that is just exactly what is happening in my life.

I have been rereading one of my favorite books, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and this quote really spoke to me…“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too”. This quote really resonated with me, because I have been working extremely hard to build not only my businesses, but to better myself with each breath I take. As I have been doing so, things in my realm of the world have been progressing in quite an expected way. My health and fitness philosophies are rubbing off on others and in turn, the lives and bodies of my friends, family and clients are undergoing sufficient change as well. I am learning more and more each day to be selfless and understand that true happiness (in my book) comes from helping other people. I was the girl concerned solely with myself, fashion, celebrities, emptily socializing, my hair and beauty products… seriously and yeah.. I know, how lame. At the end of the day, I had nice things and my hair was always awesome ;), but before I laid my head down on my pillow at night, I realized there was something truly substantial missing from my life. It wasn’t until someone selflessly extended a hand to me and unknowingly opened up this secret passion in my heart and changed my life in every way possible. A simple gesture of non-judgement kindness changed my heart & changed my future.

For that person, I am thankful.

So here I am, a twenty-something girl, on a journey to helping as many people as I can find true, healthy lives. My intentions as a woman are to give to those who need until all I have to give is gone. I hope you can open your heart and do the same.

Happy Humpday, y’all.

In a strange state of mind..

Love this tune.
Here’s the scenario: Comfy sweats, hot tea, in my bed, listening to chill music like this all day, working on both blogs, my book & school simultaneously, loving every minute of my life. I am learning more and more to pull the creative inspiration out of everything and that has been improving my writing and thinking, vastly. It is giving me the inspiration I have needed to have two live blogs and begin writing my first book. Challenge yourself to not be such a one-sided thinker, and open your mind to learning and growing. You’ll reap so many non-materialistic benefits, which in life those truly are the best benefits. So while I would like to be out on a patio with my friends, sipping Mimosas & chatting, this is where I would rather be in this moment. Learning, growing and loving.

Happy Sunday Funday, y’all.

One of the greatest things of this past year was discovering my love for health and wellness. At the base of every dream I had ever pictured for myself, my fitness goals and overall health was always something that slightly held me back. It acted as a confidence road block and prevented me from being exactly who I wanted to be. I allowed for life to take over and when that happens, we tend to push ourselves to the bottom of our list of priorities. Nonetheless, I have spent these last 12 months reconstructing myself and my entire life. I have been planting seeds of success and this is my year that all these plans I have been solidly working on will finally flourish. This isn’t going to be my best-year-ever-new-years-eve-resolution-chatter-quit-the-next-day kind of year.  This is going to be the best year for me because I spent the whole year before working hard for it and because every new calendar year is ALWAYS going to be progressively greater than the last.

That being said, this blog is going to undergo a HUGE move! From the moment I knew I wanted to write a blog, The Daily Pound, has always what I have wanted to name it. So now three years later, I have discovered a whole new meaning in the name of my blog. The Daily Pound is going to be a blog dedicated to health, fitness, motivation, REAL results from REAL people, reaching our goals, and just a place to come to so you never have to feel alone on your journey to better health! I am so excited to do my part in spreading the word of better health to as many people as I can reach.

I look forward to what is in store for my future, as well as all those around me! Keep reading, thanks for supporting and I look forward to this next chapter with you all!!

rants from a twenty-something ep. 8

There is something incredible about squiggles and lines meandering into such symmetry, syncing one’s thoughts and visions, and creating such beautiful bodies of work. Letters, words, sentences, books, theories, all bound together in unison in an attempt to compile great stories and create places that only exist only in literature and your imagination. You can push the pre-prescribed bounds of culturally excepted thinking and create any type of world you would like to live in. Writing is my personal therapy. Having the freedom to express my true deep emotions on paper, or a cyber medium, is thoroughly cleansing and highly invigorating. Hearing the keys clicking underneath my fingers with every letter I write is my equivalent to a cigarette fiend fulfilling their craving for a stick of tobacco. I have to write… I just have to have it.

So what is the point of this entry? Merely, just emptying words that were floating about in my head and I believe I did just that. So now I leave you with some Brandon Boyd, in hopes that maybe your night is as inspired as mine. 🙂

Have a good night readers/bloggers.
